Product Reviews from Real People

“I was put off by the price and procrastinated for a long time, but this miter saw is very impressive. The details are perfect. The sliding mechanism allows zero clearance behind the saw (nice for a small shop), the cut quality is stellar, and the accuracy is as close to perfect as I can measure. Thumbs up.” By Amazon Customer

“I really had one primary criteria for the Festool, and that was accuracy. And I mean dead-on, no slop accuracy. I have been using the Rigid for things like deck, fence, or outside trim work, or cutting rough stock down to size. For those applications, it was fine (or should I say “accurate enough”.) But, if it was going to be on a finished piece, all cuts went to the table saw. Not a big deal, but I just got tired of the constant change of blades and splitters and cross-cut sleds. I dreamed of the day that a miter saw could cut a board at a true 90 or 45 degree angle. It is amazing. First of all, I have a miter station set up in the shop. I had to do a little work to align the Kapex, as it sits 1/4 inch lower than the Rigid. And the lasers were not perfect when I set it up. Also, it took a little while to read through the instructions for setting bevel and dado and so forth. But, on the first cut, I got a dead perfect angle and bevel. I crosscut a 8″ board, flipped it and set it on a reference plate…there was zero light coming through. I went through a series of cut tests, and all were perfect.” By Rajin Cajun

“This is my third miter saw. I honestly bought and justified the increased cost of the Festool Kapex because of the extra square footage of shop space the Festool design allows in my small shop with the slide foreword design. Since I have now owned it for a year I do not regret paying the high cost. This tool is so accurate and cuts so clean that my incra miter sled is gathering dust. It is a rare occasion that the miter sled gets any use. The dust collection is amazing and the biggest surprise was the lasers. You can cut through your pencil line or on either side of it. It’s that crazy accurate. If you buy this saw you will not be disappointed. Cuts are super clean, super accurate. I never thought that I would ever see my Incra miter sled would gather dust. Bottom line after over a year of frequent use….my miter sled is gathering dust.” By Elizabeth Landry

What Others Are Saying

Dust Collection: Near Perfection With The Right Equipment

The Kapex miter saw’s 91 percent dust collection ability starts with the clear, narrow blade guard which is designed to improve dust extraction efficiency and provide excellent visibility. The pliable rubber dust hood then directs chips directly into the extraction port, which features a swivel design for convenient positioning of the dust extraction hose. Although the extraction port accepts both 27mm and 36mm hoses, the 91 percent dust collection rate is achieved only when using the 36mm hose and a Festool CT 22 or Ct 33 Dust Extractor. Owner reviews indicated that there is a significant increase in dust collection when using the 36mm hose. One owner’s close observation of Festool training materials led to the conclusion that a shorter hose between the saw and Extractor also increases collection efficiency. Conclusion

In my line of work precision cuts matter.   This is an incredibly well designed saw and ahead of its time when compared to other miter saws.   From someone who has a small shop, I really like the rail forward design, not only does it increase precision by preventing head play it creates a compact footprint and allows me to easily transport as wall as place the saw against a wall. The micro-adjustable bevel angle with up-front rotary knob, is awesome and another really nice feature. Lastly, this saw, like many Festool tools, was designed to excel in dust extraction. Read more here…
