Product Reviews from Real People
“Once set up this saw is dead-on accurate and stays that way. This is a great addition to my woodworking shop and performs flawlessly. The LED blade illumination feature is great as well….no lasers to realign when you change the blade…the blade’s shadow on the workpiece IS where the blade will cut.” By Carl H.
“The DWS780 is truly a versatile saw, and you can tell the second you get the box that it is solidly built and not like some of the cheaper off-brand tools you see today. This is the quality you expect from DeWalt, and the saw is ready to be used the second you take it out of the box. Despite having a 15-amp motor and a huge 12″ blade, it is surprisingly quiet, well balanced, and actually reasonably portable. With 1 hand I was able to carry it down to my work room in the basement. I have confidence that I can store and transport this tool without needing to have a permanent bench for it.” By Joel Avrunin
“I purchased this machine as an upgrade to my 12″ Delta miter saw. The Delta did not have a sliding blade, and I was limited to the width of a board I could cut on it as a result. The Dewalt’s sliding mechanism has provided all of the capacity that I’ve required to crosscut rough stock before it goes to the jointer. As others have noted, at first use the machine head seems a little reluctant on the sliding mechanism; this resolved itself quickly in use, and I do not note any hesitation as I pull the head forward and then push it back into the cut. The lighted cut line does take a little time to get used to (the Delta had twin lasers, which I came to like), but with practice I can now gauge exactly where I want to cut in relation to the blade’s shadow cast by the light. This saw has many other features that are well-designed. I would buy this again.” By R. Light
“High quality product… works great. The light on the blade is wonderful. Better than a laser because the light is on both sides of the blade casting a shadow on the object to be cut EXACTLY the width of the blade and exactly where it will cut. Also purchased the rolling miter saw stand and the two combined are my new favorite tool around the property. Bravo DeWalt!” By Diane S.

What Others Are Saying
The DWS780 is a well built and sturdy saw – at 56 pounds you don’t have to worry about someone picking this up and running away with it. Compared to my 10” bevel miter saw this is a much bigger saw. The DWS780 miter saw does have some nicely well placed ergonomic grips and when the saw is turned at a 45 degree angle it is fairly compact. With its increased size come increased capacity and a few real sweet improvements. Read more here…
DEWALT DWS780 Double Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw
Overall, I am quite impressed with the sliding miter saw, and it was difficult to find much to complain about it. It comes with a fairly robust and nicely constructed workpiece clamp, which surprised me a bit, and optional extension rails are available for users that don’t plan to use the saw with a miter saw stand.
