Product Reviews from Real People
“I’ve had this for over a year now. I have no complaints and only good things to say about it. I purchased a Freud negative hook angle blade specifically made for this type of saw and it cuts like a dream. The biggest gripe I had about my old miter saw was the inability for it to give me true angles. I’ve made a few picture frames with this saw and they went together smoothly, with no gaps at the miters. To me, that was an amazing thing. I also like the cross-cut capacity. I haven’t tried to cut a board that was too wide yet, so it’s obviously met my needs as far as depth. A sound piece of machinery and I would recommend this.” By NDruid
“After much debate on what saw to purchase I finally decided to go with the DW717. It was a great choice. I replaced a twenty year old Delta that I finally could not get replacement parts. The saw did not need any adjustments out of the box. I purchased the LED work light with this and it works great. My only complaint just like most of the other reviews is the dust collection.” By ReiCor
“I’ve had this saw for several years now, and as a professional of 20+ years I’ve logged plenty of hours on it. The biggest thing I can say about this latest generation of DeWalt miter saws is how well thought out it is when it comes to all the little details.’ By TOMAC
“I agonized over the expense of the DeWalt. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. She was square out of the box. Immediately put a diablo 60 tooth on her and went to work. You wont regret this purchase.” By J. Lansing
“I absolutely LOVE how this machine operates. It blew away my old Black & Decker (even though it was non-miter) and I really like the soft start and electric brake. I am really an amateur but I love how great this saw is. It also fit perfectly on my DW726 rolling miter saw stand (see my separate review for that) plus the weight of 51 pounds is almost what my old saw weighed. I’ve had this for almost 6 months and I cannot find anything that I dislike about it. Thank you, DeWalt for listening to people like me.” By Lin Hayes
Often purchased with the DeWalt adjustable miter saw laser system, this equipment is compatible to allow for even more accurate cutting with an easy to see red line. Made with the confidence of a trustworthy brand, this miter saw review gives credence to the adjustability, precision, and flexibility of this incredibly durable tool.
What Others Are Saying
DW717 Power, Durability, Ease-Of-Use
The saw’s 15 AMP motor puts out 4,000 RPM through a V-belt drive to power through dense hardwoods, and it’s electronic brake contributes to both safety and productivity, stopping the blade within five seconds of releasing the trigger. The dual horizontal steel rails combine with linear ball bearings and an innovative clamping mechanism for smooth, precise sliding action. The durable machined base fence support makes sure the fence stays square, while improved ergonomics in the form of a horizontal handle keep controls operator friendly. A user commented that this saw is definitely “lefty friendly,” referring to the trigger placement. A spindle lock is provided for easier blade changes, a lock down pin helps avoid damage during transport, and a hole in the trigger for a padlock keeps your DW717 secure.
